The birth of VOLT-A woman with common sense

Mild mannered Cora Littleton had just laid down with a migraine
after watching 36 straight hours of Fox News coverage of the
Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, 3 Bush press conferences, and
interviews with Karl Rove, Anne Coulter and Erik Prince.  She
was nearly asleep when a massive thunderstorm broke out and a
gigantic bolt of lightning hit the yellow ribbon bumper sticker on
her SUV and ricocheted into her microwave.  The resulting
radioactive explosion caused a sledgehammer hanging on the
wall above her head to dislodge and strike her directly on the left
temple.  It was then that she realized two things...1-the
combination of events made her invincible and 2-war only causes
death and destruction of innocent people and that it is never an
answer.  Now she uses her newfound talents and accouterments-
the lightning bolt of peace and a the hammer of common sense to
free the world of its inability to solve its problems without war and
violence.

Hilda Boomgarden, a reknowned biochemist, was developing a
cure for war and violence.  Her chemical compound, nearly
complete, was considered a threat to Lockheed Martin,
Blackwater, Halliburton and other war profiteers.  Hilda was
perfecting her chemical compound late one night when a
suspicious explosion occurred in her lab.  The force of the
explosion caused the vial in her hand to burst and spray into her
face.  The chemical compound was destroyed, but not before
changing Hilda forever.

Although her face was severely scarred, Hilda became more
peaceful and, in turn, more powerful.  As the Administration
continued to declare that war was the only means of safety,
Hilda's shield of peace proved to be more powerful at protecting
the world than any military weapon.

Now known as
The PeaceMaker, Hilda seeks to shield and
protect all victims of war and violence.
The Observer

Peacemaking may require a trip to the fabric store or thrift shop
for some catchy attire, but otherwise, you can be a peace
super-shero with the skills you already have!  Take this
unassuming woman - she likes to listen and take notes.  She asks
questions and takes pictures.  Sometimes she just stands
there, looking pink.  Being present in a situation, watching and
listening, can change the dynamic of what happens or can prevent
something violent from taking place.  International observers have
used this technique during elections and in conflict situations.
Armed only with a pen and paper, maybe a camera and some
good walking shoes (whatever color you like), The Observer
shows that powerful peacemaking can be accomplished with the
most simple, affordable and readily available tools we have.  The
pen is mightier (and a lot easier to carry) than the sword!
Veritas, the proclaimer of Truth

In a world weary of lies and deceit, one woman dared to expose
the liars that were responsible for the turmoil. Veronica Paix, once
an anthropologist and historian, had spent her life researching the
origin of the nature of goddesses of Roman mythology. Of
particular interest was Veritas, the Roman Goddess of Truth. In an
effort to find guidance in these troubled times, Veronica set out to
find the mythical lasso of truth and Veritas’ hiding place. While on
this quest, Veronica was caught in an earthquake. When she
came to, she found that she had fallen into a tunnel landing near
an underground well. Looking for a way out she stumbled upon
the fabled lasso of truth. But she still had to find a way out. For two
days she wondered through tunnels finally emerging with new
resolve. Taking the name of the legendary goddess, Veronica
vowed to denounce liars of the world in an effort to mobilize
people to right the wrongs that were motivated by greed and a
general disregard for the welfare of the common person. Now
known to the world as
Veritas and armed with the lasso of truth
she is challenging the culture of deceit that has become the norm.

The Organizer
Soft-spoken Alice planned to retire gracefully.  She was napping
to the cable news noise about war and economic collapse when
the titanium in her knees began to pick up energy from a nearby
CodePink meeting.  The next thing she knew, her hair took on a
fuscia tint.  Her hands tingled with a magnetic force that attracted
antiwar leaflets from all parts of the city.  Her voice got stronger,
her picket line stamina returned and she jumped off the couch
with the super-power of Direct Action Organizing.
